Base Metal Thermocouples

Base Metal Thermocouples

Temp sens offers three basic types of base metal thermocouples:- insulated wire, bare and ceramic insulated elements and thermocouples with protection tubes.
 
The base-metal thermocouple covers the majority of applications within industry over a range of –180°C to +1300°C.

K Chromel (+) Alumel (-) -200 to 1200°C
T Copper (+) Constantan (-) -200 to 350°C
E Chromel (+) Constant (-) -200 to 900°C
N Nicorsil (+) Nisil (-) -200 to 1200°C


Many variations of each type are available to meet your application needs. The bare wire and bead construction normally requires additional protection from the medium being measured. The mineral insulated system however can be used on its own, except in particularly severe conditions such as in aluminum or brass foundries.

Features:

Insulated wire thermocouples are suitable for most general purpose applications.

Bare and ceramic insulated elements, available in ASTM  Types K and J, can be twisted or butt welded. Choices include straight or angle types, two- or four-hole insulators and single or dual element.

Thermocouple with protection comes complete with head, block and protection tube. Several styles are available.

Special Thermocouples

Tempsens manufacture some special types of thermocouples to meet specific application needs and on customer demand.


Squzeed Thermocouple :


These thermocouples are also known as Reduced Tip Thermocouples. These thermocouples provide Fast Response and Long Life.


Tri-Level Thermocouple :

This thermocouple is suitable for harsh environment of glass industry.

The Tri-level assembly is protected from the aggressive nature of the glass by an outer sheath of Platinum or a Platinum/Rhodium alloy and has three measuring points spaced to give readings of top, middle and bottom temperatures. This allows for accurate control of heating and cooling giving a homogeneous glass flow.


Coated thermocouple:

Thermocouples are available with different type of coating such as Tungsten Carbide, ceramic, PTFE, PVDF, PFA Coating.


Tungsten coated Thermocouple is used in a furnace. The protecting sheath when coated with a thick layer of Tungsten minimizes the carburization process and extends the life of the probes significantly.

PFA Coated Probes are the perfect solution when there is a need to measure the temperature of caustic or corrosive chemical solutions in industrial and laboratory environments. The superior corrosion resistance of PFA allows you to measure the temperature of sulfuric, hydrochloric, nitric and chromic acids, as well as caustic compounds.
